September 16, 2011: Correction: "We have one small correction to add this morning. Earlier this week, we ran a piece about the Turkish Prime Minister and his support of the Palestinian bid for full U.N. membership. In the item, we said Turkey had expelled the Israeli Ambassador after Israeli authorities refused to apologize for a deadly raid on a Turkish ship trying to deliver aid to Gaza last year. Israeli commandos boarded the Mavi Marmara in international waters and killed nine Turkish civilians. The Mavi Marmara a was a passenger vessel window and though it was part of the flotilla carrying aid to Gaza, it was not carrying any of that aid itself."
-
Jul 20 2010: CBC apologized for an erroneous radio report which referred to the Mavi Marmara ship as being "full of supplies" when Israeli forces intercepted it off the Gaza Strip.
- Apr 3 2009: “The UN had appointed a Jewish judge from South Africa to head its investigation of alleged war crimes committed by Israel during its recent invasion of the Gaza Strip. He will focus only on Palestinian victims because Israel is refusing to co-operate. On-Air correction stated that the report was inaccurate and “Israel has not yet said whether it will co-operate with the investigation.”
- Feb 19 2009: “Gilad Shalit was captured during an Israeli raid into Gaza in 2006.” Correction stated: “He was captured by Gaza militants during a raid on an Israeli army post.”
- May 2 2008: CBC Radio report incorrectly referred to “the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Occupied Territories.” According to a senior editor at CBC “Of course, the conflict – a sad result of which was found in the report immediately preceding this one – is between Israel and those living in the Occupied Territories or Israel and the Palestinians, as you suggest, or, in a more accurately, Israelis and Palestinians.”
- May 2 2008: CBC Radio report incorrectly referred to Khalil al-Haya as a former leader of Hamas. According to a senior editor at CBC “You are right, Khalil is a senior Hamas Palestinian legislative council member and current Hamas political leader.”
- May 2 2008: A CBC Radio report erroneously stated that Hezbollah’s reclusive leader Hassan Nasrallah made a rare appearance at Imad Mughniyah’s funeral. While, in fact, he delivered a videotaped message. According to a senior editor at CBC, “While the story was accurate in saying he appeared at the funeral – if only electronically – I agree it would have been clearer had it said he had appeared on video.”
- Sept 27 2007: "Of course, as you pointed out, Israel was not at war with Lebanon, but was fighting Hezbollah, the Shiite irregular forces in Lebanon. It was an inadvertent editing error, which we regret.” According to a senior editor at CBC in response to an HRC complaint after a CBC radio host erroneously claimed that Israel went to war with Lebanon in the summer of 2006.
- June 3 2007: “A clarification on a story aired Sunday June 3, marking the 40th anniversary of the Six Day War: The introduction to the story said Israel captured and subsequently annexed all of Jerusalem, we should have said east Jerusalem.” Clarification issued.
- Jan 13 2006: Reporter mistranslated the Hebrew word for ‘terrorist’ as ‘suicide bomber.’ Admission of error.
